My Thoughts on Obama's State of the Union!

~~He started off blaming Bush

~~He said that the worst of the financial storm had passed. Really, then why is unemployment at 10%?

~~He gave numerous lectures on how there should be less partisanship. This coming from a man who supported a health care bill being drafted with no input by any Republican legislators.

~~He repeats his infamous lines of bashing banks and Wall Street. He needs to read McClanahan's article, Fannie, Freddie Lit Match for our Conflagration.

~~He then starts talking about forcing banks to give loans to small businesses. Uh, isn't that what got us into this financial mess in the first place? And why is the government involved at all?

~~Cheer Line~~He says he wants to eliminate the capital gains tax. If he actually does this, I will be impressed.

~~He is going through a laundry list of things he wants to do. How exactly is he going to do any of them if he can't even get health care passed with Democrats controlling both houses of Congress?

~~His condescending attack on those of us who don't believe in man-made global warming. Recently it came to light that a lot of the global warming data is false and more and more scientists don't buy into it. Yet, in his speech to the entire country Obama thought it was a good idea to attack all of us, rather than get his facts straight.

~~It was 45 minutes into his speech before he even brought up the subject of heath care.

~~He is still repeating this ridiculous line that the Health Care bill will reduce the deficit. That is beyond absurd, you don't add a HUGE government program and decrease the deficit.

~~Obama has already spent an insane amount of money but he now wants everyone else to tighten their belts.

~~He mentions using common sense, that is ironic because thats exactly what was missing

~~Obama attacks a decision made last week by the Supreme Court. Alito shakes his head and mouths "not true". I'm glad, its hard to see all of the justices sitting there not able to say anything.

~~At the end he had the nerve to threaten the Republicans about the 60 vote majority. Are you kidding me? After all the hell that Democrats put us through not approving our judges during Bush's presidency.

~~He waited an hour to talk about the wars and the war on terror.

UPDATE:
Dave Helling asked for my comments on the speech, and I was quoted in his article in the KC Star.

Honoring Freedom--Defending President Bush's Legacy!

Jeffrey Scott Shapiro interned for Bill Clinton, voted for Al Gore and served on Senator John F. Kerry’s legal team during the 2004 election. Yet, today he is defending President Bush. He has started a group entitled, Honor Freedom. Honor Freedom's goal is to:
...to correct the historical record about President Bush and the Bush foreign policy doctrine
Honor Freedom's Mission is to:
1. UNITE BUSH SUPPORTERS by building a national network of chapters in all 50 states.

2. CORRECT THE HISTORICAL RECORD by dispelling fallacies about President Bush.

3. TEACH AMERICA the truth about the Bush foreign policy doctrine.
Shapiro wrote an article entitled, America Betrayed President Bush. I couldn't agree with Shapiro more. Here is an excerpt:
As Obama continues to make decisions that mirror the Bush doctrine, it is becoming apparent that the former president was not ignorant or irrational in his foreign policy decisions despite the harsh criticism and disloyalty he endured. He was in fact, ahead of his time, a visionary who understood politics and warfare in the modern age of terrorism.

That is why Obama is now following his lead.

It should be obvious now, even to Obama’s most passionate supporters that shielding the free world requires more than mere words like “hope” and “change.” Bush’s detractors should be embarrassed having arrogantly thought they could do it better, and those Republicans who abandoned Bush when he needed them most should take a moment to reflect on their fortitude or lack thereof.

Americans who chastised President Bush for removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq should apologize and show him the same respect they are now showing President Obama as he neutralizes the Taliban in Afghanistan.

George W. Bush seemed to have an almost mystical understanding of what the American people needed when we needed it most. He reminded all of us of why we should be proud to be Americans at a time when there was a whisper that we brought the Sept. 11 attacks upon ourselves for promoting democracy abroad.

President Bush deserves our respect, not our betrayal.
As anyone who reads my blog knows, I have continued to be a loyal supporter and defender of Bush, despite how fickle even many fellow Republicans have been towards him. I am extremely thank-ful for Shapiro's efforts. As Breitbart says, "George W. Bush is history's president". I firmly believe that history will be much kinder to him than many are today.

Make sure to check out the Honor Freedom website. If you are on Facebook, join the Facebook group.

I've got to hand it to Jon Stewart! He's a big time lib, yet, he hasn't hesitated to go after Obama time and time again.

Also, one has to wonder how "wonderful" Obama's speaking abilities really are when he needs a teleprompter for every single speech he gives. Especially in the informal setting of a sixth grade classroom.

Scott Brown makes history-wins U.S. Senate Seat in MA 52% to 47%

What an awesome night!! I'm going to be honest, politically I haven't been this excited since 2004. A Republican wins a senate seat in the liberal mecca of Massachusetts by 5 percentage points!! Just a snapshot of what happened last night:
Brown led by 52 per cent to 47 percent with all but 3 percent of precincts counted. Turnout was exceptional for a special election in January, with light snow reported in parts of the state. More voters showed up at the polls Tuesday than in any non-presidential general election in Massachusetts since 1990.

One day shy of the first anniversary of Obama's swearing-in, the election played out amid a backdrop of animosity and resentment from voters over persistently high unemployment, Wall Street bailouts, exploding federal budget deficits and partisan wrangling over health care.

"I voted for Obama because I wanted change. ... I thought he'd bring it to us, but I just don't like the direction that he's heading," said John Triolo, 38, a registered independent who voted in Fitchburg.

He said his frustrations, including what he considered the too-quick pace of health care legislation, led him to vote for Brown.

For weeks considered a long shot, Brown seized on voter discontent to overtake Coakley in the campaign's final stretch. His candidacy energized Republicans, including backers of the "tea party" protest movement, while attracting disappointed Democrats and independents uneasy with where they felt the nation was heading.

What amazes me is that you would think the Democrats would take stock and realize the message this sends. The American people are trying to communicate that they do not want the Democrats' version of Health Care "reform". Yet, when I turned to MSNBC for comic relief I see Chris Matthews saying that the Democrats now HAVE to pass Health Care no matter what, or they are done. What???

Then I got to see Keith Olbermann's irrational tirade about Scott Brown. He calls Brown, "homophobic, racist, sexist, reactionary and a supporter of violence against women" among other things. If Rush or Hannity said anything close to this about a Democrat, you'd never hear the end of it. My jaw just dropped and I'm left thinking that Olbermann (besides being bitter) seriously has a mental illness, seriously!!!

Rep. Weiner is living in reality and admitted earlier, pre-election that if Brown did win, Health Care might indeed be dead.

It will be interesting to see how quickly the Democrats seat Brown and if they try to ram Health Care down our throats. Democrat Senator Jim Webb has already called for Health Care talks to be suspended until Brown is seated.

Sarah Palin Media Glitz!

~~The above video from Newsy.com reminds me of what an idiot Paul Begala is. Can any of my liberal readers tell me what Begala has ever done that has any significance to it? The only thing I can think of is being Bill Clinton's chief defender during Monica-Gate. He went on all the talk shows saying that its okay to cheat on your wife and lie about it to the country, because its only about sex. Wow, what a great thing to be known for.

I guess that qualifies Begala to critique Sarah Palin whose accomplishments are too long to list. I'll be doing that in a post soon. I'm almost done with her book and I plan on doing a lengthy review.

Bill O'Reilly's interview with her was wonderful.

I loved the analysis of the interview by Monica Crowley. Monica nailed EXACTLY why the left hates her and is so afraid of her. She is 100% correct in saying that Palin is now speaking directly to the American people, just like Reagan.

Down Syndrome Family on American Idol!

Hat tip: Ricky.org

I have to be honest, sometimes I cringe at how the people who lack talent are seemingly exploited on the show, American Idol.

Yet, seeing the Curtis family in the video above last night, reminded me of why I love the show. When you see a genuine person of talent like Maddy Curtis, who has such a good heart, its wonderful to watch.

Tears came to my eyes as I saw how their family not only embraced one Down Syndrome child, but four. In a world where most women choose to abort their baby when they find out it has Downs, its a beautiful and touching thing to see.

Sarah Palin to be a Fox News Analyst!

Sarah Palin just signed on to be an analyst for Fox News according to sources. I agree with all of Ed Morrissey's reasons on why this is great news for those of us that are Sarah Palin supporters. Here are some of the details:
The network confirmed that Ms. Palin will appear on the network’s programming on a regular basis as part of a multi-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ms. Palin will not have her own regular program, one person familiar with the deal said, though she will host an occasional series that will run on the network from time to time. This person would not elaborate, but the network does have a precedent for such a series. Oliver L. North is the host of an occasionally running documentary series on the military called “War Stories.”

Brit Hume dares to care about Tiger Wood's soul!

I kept hearing about Brit Hume's comments to Tiger Woods about Christ! I was curious, and had to listen for myself. I was impressed that Hume actually cared more about Tiger's well-being than his sex life or his golf game. Also, the words were short and to the point, and not preachy or condescending.

Yet, you would've thought he had committed the unpardonable sin by the reaction from the left. Each time you think Keith Olbermann can't find a new low, he does, comparing Brit Hume to jihadists. GG has more links from those on the left freaking out! I think they all may be protesting just a little too much.

Prayers for Rush!

Somehow I missed the initial news report on Wednesday about Rush's chest pains. I finally got up to speed last night. While trying to find out info, I discovered that Wikipedia had declared him dead by using a very dubious news source. All of us as bloggers have known that we have to be careful when citing Wikipedia as a news source, but this goes beyond the pale.

I also couldn't believe how horrible the AP article was on him. It reminded me of how they described Tony Snow after his death. Then there was the hate being spewed by all of those on the left. Brian Maloney has a bunch of the links. I will never understand this. I may not care for people like Michael Moore or Nancy Pelosi but I wouldn't be celebrating if they had a health scare or died and I definitely wouldn't be saying vicious things about it online. It is unfathomable to me!!

All that to say, I'm glad Rush is doing better, even though the Doctors don't know what caused the chest pains. My prayers will continue to be with him and I look forward to him returning to the show on Wednesday!
