Vets For Freedom Demanding that Murtha Apologize!

Hat tips: Gateway Pundit and Michelle Malkin

Join the Vets for Freedom and sign the petition demanding John Murtha apologize for his smears against our troops. John Murtha accused our Marines of cold blooded murder and has yet to apologize, even though the charges have been dropped against 7 of the 8 Marines.

Murtha is a little upset about the fact that he may lose his seat. In his own words, "no g** da** way!" Unfortunately for him, the polls are tightening and his opponent Bill Russell may just unseat him. This is one of those races where you can bet I will be watching the election results Tuesday night!

Missouri State Representative Jerry Nolte

I did a profile on Mike Gibbons about a week ago and said that I would be doing more in the series. This post on Jerry Nolte is profile #2.

Clay County is fortunate to have some great Republican Representatives. Since, I am stuck in the only area that is represented by a Democrat, I've adopted Doug Ervin as mine. I've talked about him many times on this blog and I've interviewed him on my radio show. Tim Flook also does an excellent job of representing the Liberty area and Jerry Nolte does a wonderful job representing the Gladstone area.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of also having Jerry Nolte on my radio show and we talked about the upcoming elections. One of the things that impresses me about all of these State Representatives is that they stay connected to the people in their district. In past years, I have done phone calls for different State Reps and I can't tell you how many times the people would mention that they had just had the Rep at their door. Some of these Republicans are in areas where there are more registered Democrats, yet many of them cross party lines to vote.

Nolte is a great example of staying connected. He has been walking non-stop, knocking on doors and getting to know the people and their needs in his district. This past Saturday, I took my boys and we knocked on doors for Nolte and got good responses everywhere we went.

Background & Experience:
--He is married to his wife Alicia and has 3 children
--He attends St. Charles Catholic Church
--He has been an Advertising Artist
--He also taught art at OakHill Day School
--He has represented the 33rd district in the Missouri House since 2004

The Gibbons profile talked about the many successes that the Republicans have had over the past four years. You would never know it from the merciless attacks by the KC Star and others. Yet, Nolte and the others have accomplished a lot.

Nolte's specific accomplishments:
--Passing new laws to curb illegal immigration
--Providing property tax relief
--Supporting legislation that helped create new jobs
--Enabled the Northland to get more money for education without raising taxes and helping the money to go directly to the classroom

Joe Biden is not ready for Prime Time!

Reporter Barbara West rocks! Finally, someone in the Drive By Media asks Joe Biden some tough questions. As Michelle Malkin says, Best interview of Joe Biden ever. Since, liberals aren't used to being asked tough questions, Biden and the Obama campaign threw a fit about it. They canceled an interview with Biden's wife that was going to be done by the same news station. Unbelievable! Can you imagine what Obama and Biden would be like if they got treated the same way that Sarah Palin and McCain do on a daily basis? Talk about having thin skin.

Obama recently said that Fox News is probably costing him 3 percentage points in the polls. If we are to believe that, then McCain is losing 3 points per station that favors Obama. Lets see, that would be 6 points for MSNBC and CNN and 12 more for the Drive By Media networks.

Malkin also makes a great case that Biden is by far the scarier candidate to be a heart beat away from the presidency. Here is an excerpt:
If the prospect of Joe Biden sitting a heartbeat away from the presidency doesn't give you palpitations, you are not paying attention.

Hysterical Sarah Palin-bashers on the unhinged left and elitist right have dominated campaign press coverage and pop culture. They've ridiculed her family, her appearance and her speech patterns. They've derided her character, her parenting skills, her readiness and her intellect.

Meanwhile, the increasingly erratic, super-gaffetastic Joe Biden gets a pass. What does the guy have to do to earn the relentless scrutiny and merciless mockery he deserves? Answer: wear high heels, shoot caribou and change the "D" next to his name to an "R."

Her conclusion:
Nightly news shows still haven't tired of replaying Palin's infamous interview with Katie Couric. But how many times have they replayed Biden's botched interview with Couric last month -- in which he cluelessly claimed: "When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"

Er, here's what really happened: Roosevelt wasn't president when the market crashed in 1929. As for appearing on TV, it was still in its infant stages and wasn't available to the general public until at least 10 years later.

During the lone VP debate earlier this month, the increasingly erratic, super-gaffetastic Biden demonstrated more historical ignorance that Palin would never be allowed to get away with: "Vice President Cheney's been the most dangerous vice president we've had probably in American history," he said. "He has the idea he doesn't realize that Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the vice president of the United States, that's the executive -- he works in the executive branch. He should understand that. Everyone should understand that."

Article 1 of the Constitution defines the role of the legislative branch, not the executive branch. You would think someone who has served 36 years in government -- the same someone who is quick to remind others of his high IQ and longtime Senate Judiciary Committee chairmanship -- would know better.

Biden's erratic and gaffetastic behavior is the least of America's worries. He's worse than a blunderbuss. He's an incurable narcissist with chronic diarrhea of the mouth. He's a phony and a pretender who fashions himself a foreign policy expert, constitutional scholar and worldly wise man. He's a man who can't control his impulses.

And he could be a heartbeat away.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled Palin-says-"You Betcha" skit.

I am still incredulous that so many people are merciless towards Sarah Palin but give Joe Biden a pass. What does he have to say or do to get people to realize that he doesn't have what it takes to be a VP, let alone the President?

Dispelling the Lies about Sarah Palin!

(Make sure to check out "Team Sarah". Fred Thompson's wife, Jeri was on Hannity and Colmes last night promoting the site. I immediately went to my computer and signed up and invited a bunch of friends. I've got the widget in my sidebar.)

A friend of mine sent me an email he had gotten from a liberal at his work. He wanted me to help him refute this guy's Daily Kos type talking points about Sarah Palin. I spent so much time on my response that I decided to have it be today's post. His words are in black and my responses are in blue.

Not only did she know what the Bush Doctrine is but she has lied repeated times.
Actually, Charles Krauthammer says that Gibson is the one who committed the gaffe during that interview:
"The New York Times got it wrong. And Charlie Gibson got it wrong.

There is no single meaning of the Bush doctrine. In fact, there have been four distinct meanings, each one succeeding another over the eight years of this administration -- and the one Charlie Gibson cited is not the one in common usage today. It is utterly different."

You could write is off as liberal media but here are just a few examples:
1. She has been convicted of abuse of power by a completely republican review board. Abuse of power is a serious charge and a VP should by be abusing power.
--First of all, this is a non-scandal and she wasn't "convicted" of anything. She was found to have abused her power by a council that was led by two Democrats who are Obama supporters. She fired former public safety director Walt Monegan for several incidents of insubordination, not because he refused to fire her former brother-in-law.

--State Senator Hollis French was the lead investigator and he is not only a Democrat but an Obama supporter.

Democratic state Senator Hollis French, the lead investigator in the smear campaign against Governor Palin, promised his party that the results of the Troopergate probe would be an "October surprise" that would "likely be damaging to the administration."

--Kim Elton was the chairman of the council, he is also a Democrat and an Obama supporter.

2. She sold the states private jet on eBay. Actually she did not.
She never said that she "sold" in on eBay. Her exact words were that she "put it on ebay" which was true. According to, the statement is obviously true.

3. She said she voted against the bridge to nowhere. Actually she voted for it.
She did support it in the beginning but as she learned more about it she was the one who killed it by putting the final stake in it.

4. She said she fired the governors private chef. Actually she just moved her to the department of the interior and continued to cook for the family.
She didn't need the private chef because she was going to stay in her home in Wasilla, instead of moving to Juneau. She did move her to a different department. The bottom line is that Palin did give up certain luxuries to help save the taxpayers of Alaska money.

5) She continues to say she his a hockey mom. What hockey mom spends $150,000 at high end department stores like Sacks Fifth Avenue.
This is one of the most ridiculous attacks on her yet. The RNC bought the clothes for her to wear in the campaign. She is the only one in the race WHO ISN'T A MILLIONARE. She doesn't have the money to spend on clothes, so the RNC had her wear clothes they purchased, which are being given to charity afterwards. These aren't even clothes she gets to keep.

What irritates me about this, is that if she had worn her regular clothes we would've never heard an end to the ridicule liberals would've subjected her too. Also, designers often give clothes to famous women to get the publicity. It doesn't seem that any of these designers were rushing to give her clothes like they would for Hillary Clinton and other liberal women.

6. She has charged the State of Alaska for travel of her family. When the State is only to pay for Official State Business.
"You have to read the article carefully to figure this out, but what the story ultimately reveals is that Palin (a) billed the state for most expenses allowed by law, including per diem when she stayed in her own home (her "duty station" was the state capitol of Juneau) in Wasilla; (b) didn't bill the state for other expenses, when she could have done so lawfully, such as per diems for her children; and (c) spent a lot less money on expenses than did her predecessor, especially on travel and by ridding herself of the state's personal chef."--Gateway Pundit

7.She hired Jack Abramoff’s lobbying firm to lobby for her town.
This is another ridiculous claim that she hired someone who had connections to Abramoff. Almost every politician in Washington had indirect links to Abramoff, including 40 out of 45 Democrat Senators.

8. The Republican Colin Powell said she is not ready to be president.
Colin Powell is a very moderate/liberal, pro-choice Republican who just endorsed Obama for President.

9. On Fox News as Republican as they come she was asked what the VP does and she replied: “In charge of the Senate” Once again incorrect and not a liberal media source.
Does this even compare to Joe Biden's countless gaffes that he's made on the campaign trail? He thinks Franklin Roosevelt was president in 1929, that we had Tv then, jobs is a 3 letter word, refers to brigades of soldiers as "battalions", and the list goes on.

10. SNL continually makes fun of her and get the highest ratings since 1994.
This is utterly ludicrous, the only time SNL got their highest ratings in 14 years was when they actually had SARAH PALIN GUEST STAR ON THE SHOW.

11. Her pastor has scared “witches” out her soul and she is on YouTube speaking in tongues. Not all that Christian.
Utterly ridiculous once again, it was a visiting African pastor that visited the church one time.

12. Asked what media she reads to be informed about the world and she said she could not name one.
This was asked of her by the condescending Katie Couric, and she was so demeaning in the way that she asked, that Sarah Palin was annoyed by the question. There was an implication that she didn't read what all the other elites read.

Real Clear Politics that is a heavily Republican poll shows that Palin is actually a drag on the ticket with a 38% approval rate.
This is absurd. Palin is drawing huge crowds every where she goes. Republicans are much more excited about her, than even McCain. She is the most popular Governor and yet the media continues to ask if she is a liability while Biden continues to make huge gaffes and nothing is said about him being a drag on Obama's ticket.

Wednesday Smorgasbord!

1) The above video shows Obama's record on abortion from his own mouth. It is extremely well done and is designated for "undecided Christian voters". Spread the word.

Hat tip: Gateway Pundit

2) Sarah Palin is going to be on Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson today. Make sure to tune in, or if you miss it, click on the link to hear the podcast.

3) 85 Celebrities who lean to the right!

Hat tip: Patrick

4) Bill Kristol's take on Joe Biden's latest gaffe. Here is an excerpt:
In other words, Biden is forecasting inaction by Obama in the face of testing by a dictator. I suspect he’s right in this forecast. McCain might want to clarify this point. It’s not just that Obama’s own running mate expects an international crisis early in his presidency. It’s not just that Obama has a weak foreign policy record. It’s that Biden himself expects what will appear to be a weak response from Obama to testing by a dictator.

5) Murtha steps in it again! How many insults will the people of Pennyslvania take from Democrat candidates? Apparently, many are fed up and are supporting Murtha's opponent, Bill Russell.

Meeting Newt Gingrich!

"The keys [to implementing real change] are iron will, enormous discipline, and cheerful persistence. Those traits can change history."--Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich has occasionally disappointed me in the past. However, recently he has been scoring big points with me. I've been very impressed with his Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less campaign. Conservatives have been trying in vain to get the common sense message of drilling out for years. Newt found a powerful way to communicate that message, and it has resonated with the American people. He also made my week when he passionately defended Sarah Palin's experience to be VP. So, I was excited to get to meet him and hear him speak when he came to KC yesterday.

Its always interesting what your first impression is of famous people when you meet them in person. When I met Bush, I noticed his charisma and that he was shorter than I expected him to be. When I met John Ashcroft, he was just as genuine and humble in real life as I had always perceived him to be. When I met Newt, he seemed real and down to earth and older than how he looks on Tv.

I am not only a political junkie but I also love history. As he began to speak, it was obvious that he used to be a History Professor. He basically gave a fascinating history lecture on how he overcame the odds to become a U.S. Congressman and eventually was instrumental in the Republicans coming back to power in 1994.

It was probably a boost for many of us, as he talked about how McCain could win in an upset, like Harry Truman. I found this quote on Harry Truman interesting:
"He confounded all predictions to win re-election in 1948, largely due to his famous Whistle Stop Tour of rural America."
It would be against the Drive By Media predictions for McCain to win and it would be due to his star VP and her large crowds, IMHO. We shall see. To be honest, I think Bush is more Truman like than McCain, but there are some similarities.

Newt went on to talk about the hostile news media that McCain and Palin are up against. He pointed out that all 4 of the debates were obviously run by pro-Obama moderators. They were not neutral.

Newt hammered home several times that McCain needs to pick an issue and run with it. Newt's opinion is that McCain should constantly remind people that they have a choice. You can either pick a Presidential team that thinks they are smarter than you and will take your money and redistribute it. Or, you can pick a Presidential team that cuts your taxes and reins in spending so that you can have more of your own money.

Since this was a fundraiser for Sam Graves, his final charge was for those of us in the audience to send out an email to all of our friends and encourage them to support Graves. He was convincing!

My favorite phrases through it all were, "cheerful persistence" and "strategically optimistic". In fact, if you google "cheerful persistence", Newt's name comes up. I'm an optimist myself, so I think those are great phrases to live by, in any facet of life. Getting to hear him speak really inspired me to put some of his books on my "to read" list.

As I was thinking about him, I see some similarities between him and Karl Rove. They have both been very successful, which is why they have been so demonized by the Drive By Media. They are also both extremely intelligent men that know how to navigate well in the political realm. I think they both will be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come.

I took some pictures at the event but the lighting was bad. A friend of mine is trying to lighten it up so that hopefully I can post it soon.

A Feminist Voting Republican!

Hat tip: Skye

Dr. Lynette Long has ticked off many of her fellow feminists and many in the Democrat party. Why? She's a feminist who is voting for McCain/Palin. It is amazing to me how narrow minded liberals are when they claim to be so tolerant. According to many liberals, women and African Americans are to be championed, BUT only if they are liberal. Conservative women and Conservative minorities are anathema to liberals and must be stopped at all costs.

Long wrote a piece entitled, "A Feminist Voting Republican". Here is an excerpt:
"I am voting for McCain-Palin and I am a feminist. Many feminists can’t understand my choice. I am not betraying the cause, the fight, the mission, because I don’t want to vote Democratic. The Democratic Party is not our ally. The Democratic Party is 60% women but it has only once selected a woman as a vice-presidential candidate and that was nearly a quarter of a century ago. We are chattel in our own party. The head of the Democratic National Committee has never been a woman. Money donated to the Women’s Leadership Fund is funneled into the Obama Victory Fund. We cannot give dominion over our bodies or ourselves to one party. Current feminist groups have no teeth because they are part and parcel of the Democratic Party. They are held hostage by Roe v. Wade. They know it and the Democratic Party knows it. The only way to regain our power is to regain our vote. The Democratic Party has no reason to earn our vote. We’ve sacrificed one choice for another.

I will by not be held hostage by the Democratic Party that turned a blind eye to the corruption in the Democratic primaries and Democratic caucuses.

I will not be held hostage by the Democratic Party that ignored a woman who got 18 million votes.

I will not be held hostage by the Democratic Party a party that was deaf, dumb and blind to the persistent and pervasive sexist attacks against Hillary Clinton.

I will not be held hostage by a Democratic Party that has never had a female head of the DNC.

I will not be threatened into submission. I will not cast my vote based on fear.

The Democratic Party cannot be rewarded for its pervasive disrespect of women.
Sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Sometimes you have to tear down a house before you can rebuild it. Most feminists think the Democratic Party will treat them differently during the next election. There is no next time. There is only this time. Reinforcing abuse only perpetuates abuse. In any abusive relationship, you have to leave to get respect. Abusers are often charming and apologetic and hold out the hope of better behavior. But there is no then, there is only now.

I am a woman and I am a feminist. To the other feminists out there I ask, “Where is your pride or are you a victim of your own misogyny?”

Also, this second video is another minority rebelling against the liberal stranglehold.

Republicans at Gladfest!

Any time its an election year the kids and I usually march in a couple parades for different Republican candidates. This year we've done two and both of them have been for our Congressman Sam Graves. My two middle kids had other events this weekend so I snagged one of my oldest daughter's friends so I'd have three. The top picture is of her and her friend holding the Sam Graves banner. The second is of my youngest (cute boy) in front of the truck.

After the Gladfest parade, there was a BBQ meet and greet with Congressman Sam Graves. The picture above is a group of kids with Graves, including mine.

Later, last night I volunteered in the Republican booth at Gladfest. The weather was too nice for me to wear my new Sarah Palin shirt, so I wore my Palin button I got at the rally.

My Sarah Palin Order!

I ordered the above shirt and 2 bumper stickers from Cafe Press. For some reason, the bumper sticker pictures don't want to show up on this post. The first one said, "Sarah Palin A Hero for Real Women". The second one said, "Sarah Barracuda for Vice President". I also got my Mom a tote bag.

Cafe Press has a lot of cool election stuff. I highly encourage you to check them out.

Wednesday Smorgasbord

1) The Real Culprits in this Meltdown--Last night Bill O'Reilly had Tom Mcardle on his show from Investors Business Daily. I was impressed with Mcardle so I went to IBD and found the above editorial. It explains what caused the financial meltdown in the first place.

2) Palin Underestimated? I also found this editorial at IBD and they made some excellent points about Palin. I have literally been disgusted at how quickly those on our own side are so willing to throw our own under the bus. Here is an excerpt from their column that shows how ridiculous those people are:
"One weak outing with Couric doesn't negate the accomplishments and vision evident in Palin's State of the State address last January. Nor did it do justice the force of personality that Palin showed in her interviews this summer with IBD.

Three points of Palin's leadership do stand out as Big League.

First, she understands more than any of the candidates, including her running mate, that the key to strengthening America is through development of its own energy.

Before Palin came along, the state of Alaska was in a 30-year legislative deep freeze over how to get through a 1,712-mile natural gas pipeline to the Lower 48 states. The legislature was constantly on the cusp of passing a new bill, only to see it crash over corruption.

For two years Palin worked to sell a transparent new plan, negotiating not only with Canadian officials but with Alaskan lawmakers and voters to bring the first glimpse of energy security to the U.S.

Second, Palin has an intense knowledge of how oil booms create petro-tyrannies, having seen the corrupting influence of high prices on Alaska itself. In her Alaska speech, she outlined savings, transparency and legislative checks-and-balances to keep Alaska's flood of oil cash from turning the state into a frozen version of Hugo Chavez's Venezuela.

Does this matter? It sure does. With her extensive energy knowledge, Vice President Palin would have more perspective on how to deal with a post-Chavez Venezuela than any pundit or Council on Foreign Relations type. Why? Because she's already been there.

Third, Palin is sought out by states and even nations that want to emulate her achievements. Iceland's president sought her advice on how to develop his country's own newfound energy resources.

It all adds up to why Palin earned an 84% popularity rating in Alaska, while Pelosi in Washington is somewhere around 9%.

Palin's history shows a stronger executive record than either Barack Obama or Joe Biden. If that experience shows up in Thursday's debate, it won't likely be matched by her long-serving opponent or by the pundits who claim to know so much.

3) Democrats See the Pros and Cons of Letting Biden be Biden--Meanwhile, Biden the walking gaffe machine (who should've never been put on the ticket in the first place) doesn't get much attention, positive or negative. Palin gets a lot of attention because people are excited about her and its because of this that she upsets those on the other side. Whereas, no one cares what Biden is doing, so much isn't made about him one way or another. Sometimes, I wonder if he isn't purposely putting his foot in his mouth just to get his name in the news.

Other excellent editorials at IBD:
If Bailout Plan Is Too Socialistic, Just Wait For Obama Leviathan
ACORN'S Senator
Middle-Class Warfare
