True Hero--PFC Joshua Sparling

My buddy :-) Sean Hannity was talking to a wounded soldier yesterday on his show. I had heard him talk to this guy before and I decided I wanted to learn more about the situation. PFC Joshua Sparling was wounded in Iraq and almost lost his leg. Just recently he was told that his leg will be saved but he still has a long recovery ahead of him. But what does he want to do when he's better? Go back to Iraq. The bravery of these men and women astounds me.

The reason PFC Joshua Sparling has been in the headlines recently is because of the hateful Christmas card he received. It was written like a child's letter with the allusion on the envelope that it would be an encouraging card from a child. Instead, inside was a hateful message that this person wanted him to die. Michelle Malkin points out who the person was who wrote the hateful Christmas Card in, "Unhinged Scumbag of the Year". I love how she sugarcoats things :-).

Fox & Friends has highlighted this issue and then others like Michelle have jumped on the bandwagon and she has done several excellent posts on it on her blog. Kirby Wilbur, KVI-AM talk show host in Seattle started the Joshua Sparling Project, where he urged people to send encouraging Christmas Cards and the letters flowed in. It was an awesome idea and shouldn't just be done at Christmas time. I was inspired by this to have my kids and I sit down and make cards for PFC Sparling and some of the others at Walter Reed. They also recommend sending calling cards, stamps and other things that the wounded soldiers would need.

Here are some of the soldiers at Walter Reed that you can send encouraging cards, etc. to or you can just address it to any soldier there:

PFC Joshua Sparling
Capt. James Ollinger
Sgt. Zavian Simspon
Specialist Brian Radke
Specialist Jason Braase
Sgt. David Nevins
Sgt. Jose Ramos
Cpl. Todd Bishop
Sgt. Ryan Donnelly
Sgt. Eva Diane Cochran

Send cards and care packages c/o:
Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001
Michelle Malkin calls it "Countering the Hate" and I can't think of a better way than by pouring in the encouragement. To be honest I don't get sending hate mail to men and women who have put their lives on the line for our freedom. If you are anti-war go to your little protest rallies but leave the wounded soldiers alone.

For other ways to help our soldiers go to this awesome website, America Supports You .

Michelle Malkin's posts on this:
Thank-you, Joshua Sparling
Good Wishes for PFC. Joshua Sparling

Hey Miss Chatterbox: You know I wanted to apologize for not writing MISS Chatterbox this whole time. Years of PC speech had barred me from using the terms Miss and Mrs. Now since I am free, I will properly address you as Little MISS Chatterbox.

And good post. I got something in the mail the other day from a soldier who has lost both legs. I damn near had a breakdown from the sadness. Yet, he smiles in every picture and says kind words about supporting our troops. His name is Gen Tommy Franks, Ret and his organization is SALUTE AMERICA'S HEROES. I haven't been able to do any followup research to see if its a scam, but the postage was sent from a nonprofit that has franking privilages. I might not agree with everything you say, but the world would be boring if we did. But I certainly support the troops and appreciate that you have as well. I want the war to end asap, but while it lasts, the troops need our prayer. Thanks LMC for a great post. Have a good weekend too!

This was moving. Thanks! i am thinking of having our boys do this sometime this week. It will be a great way to teach them about our heros, and the lying, cheating scumbag idiots who hate our military. I guess i could compare the scumbags to Dr. Octopus in spiderman. and our heros are spiderman.. NO.. wait. THE GREEN GOBLIN is eviler than dr. octopus. That way they will understand what I am talking about. With my kids you have to compare that stuff so they will remember it.

You have to go to Van Helsing's site and look at his post today. It is about Jack Murth and code pink. If you scroll down, you will see code pink picketing outside Walter Reed.. It is DISGUSTING!! I am so angry at them. They are purposefully taunting the wounded soldiers. He has a great blog..
I link him on my blog.. Here is his website:

I missed Hannity last night, but I remember this disturbing story on his show. Why do people deliberately send such hate, that is so beyond me. I agree with your post overwhelming!!
The anti-war groups should leave our soldiers out of their hate messages. It is sickening to say the least, what this person did. Appreciate your links and that you researched this important story.

Thanks too Rebecca for the heads up on that link.

Mahndisa: Thanks. Thats what makes this blogging thing fun that we aren't all cookie cutters of each other :-). And I don't care if people support the war when it comes to the wounded soldiers just don't be cruel to people already in pain. That just seems like common decency to me.

Rebecca: Glad to hear that you will have your boys do it too.

Suzie: This was actually on his radio show. I listen to him more on the radio than I see him on TV.

CA: :-)

This is totally off the subject, but i had to tell you this:

I was always afraid to say this because I thought people would think i was a conspiracy theorist, or a nut.. But about a few months ago, I was thinking about some things that were going on in the news. The N. Korean dictator made a trip to China.. A special trip. kind of a surprise. I thought, I wonder why he is doing that?

This was a few months after China and Russia got together for their military practice. I couldn't help but think that China and N. Korea were making plans to be a part of some kind of attack against us.
I was thinking that maybe Russia, Syria, and Iran were involved as well somehow. Maybe even through Usama.. That there was a master plan going on here.

I have always thought Usama had ties with Iran and Syria.

Anyway, i just heard on O'Reilly tonight via some military experts, that Usama has Ties with Iran, and Iran has ties with Syria, and Syria has ties with N. Korea.. They said they were worried about all those ties, and what it would mean to us via supporting an attack against us.

I couldn't believe it when I heard what I thought about the ties was valid!! I had to tell someone, so there you are!

Late Late Saturday night!
P.S. I wonder why you do not show up on my "LINKS THAT BLOG HERE" and on my "Truth Bear links"??? hummmm We both have these links in our sidebars. (mysterious) Do you know?

I think I know...but not 100%...your link to me in your sidebar goes to my profile instead of or my

Assorted Babble-Suzie
Assorted Babble News

That may be the reason...just guessing.

Since you and I link each other quite often I just wish it showed up in the truth bear and the blogs that link to me or to you.

What a way to show discontent with the war... Whoever did that's just sick.

It's a great idea to really support the troops that way.
