My Notes on President Obama's ISIS Address
--ISIS calls themselves the Islamic State, but isn't Islamic???
--ISIS is a threat to Syria, Iraq and the Middle East, possibly the U.S.
--U.S. is meeting them with strength and resolve
--Not our fight alone
--Additional U.S. action with new Iraqi government
--U.S. will lead broad coalition
We will destroy ISIS 4 part plan:
1--Systematic campaign of airstrikes
-Hunt down terrorists that threaten our country no matter where they are, so will go into Syria
-This has been a core principle of my presidency????
-If you threaten America you will find no safe haven. Uhhh, wasn't that Bush's strategy??
2--We will increase our support to those who are fighting ISIS on the ground. Additional 475 servicemembers to Iraq, will not have a combat mission, but will provide training, intelligence and equipment.
-Asking Congress to equip those fighting ISIS in Syria
3--We will continue to draw on our substantial counterterrorism capabilities to prevent ISIS attacks. Cut off their funding, stem the flow of fighters...
4--Continue to provide humanitarian assistance to innocent civilians who have been displaced.
-Be joined by additional world partners
-Kerry in Iraq meeting with new government. Kerry is going to get partners to help us--yikes!
-How this is different--will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil. Use airpower to get them wherever they are.
--Mentions that tomorrow is the 13th anniversary of 9/11. Good thing he devoted 2 seconds to the topic.
--America is helping Muslims fight for opportunity and tolerance???
--We welcome our responsibility to lead? I recall him bashing America as a super power while running for president.
--Why the hell does he keep calling the Islamic State ISIL instead of ISIS? I know it can be called both, but no one else uses ISIL except for him.
--Obama's poll numbers suck, so he has done a turn around on fighting terrorists.
--I am appalled at how Obama says it is HIS core principle to hunt down terrorists wherever they are. That has NEVER been his core principle, that was President George W. Bush's core principle and strategy.
--But now that 2 journalists have been beheaded, ISIS is overrunning Syria and Iraq, the pressure from other nations, and the fact that Obama's poll numbers are in the toilet, all of sudden Obama has a core principle.
--Oh, and guess who was right on Iraq? That would be none other than President George W. Bush.
