Arlen Specter went down last night, not in a general election, but in a primary. I would've preferred it to have been 6 years ago, but better late than never!! I have never been a fan of Specter, whether he was calling himself a "Republican" or a "Democrat".
He lost to U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak who will face Republican Pat Toomey in the fall. Toomey deserved that seat in 2004, but we'll take 2010 ;-)!!
Other Primary Results:
--Rand Paul beats his opponent in Kentucky! He is being labeled the 1st Tea Party Candidate. I have to be honest, the son of Ron Paul makes me extremely nervous. Here is to hoping that he is a lot more normal and a little less insane than his father.
--Conservative Tim Burns Concedes~~Bummer! This was a race I was looking forward to and hoping he would pull off.
Newt Gingrich weighs in with some predictions:
~~Obama has about a 20% chance of getting re-elected and is the closest thing to Jimmy Carter he's seen
~~House Republicans will pick up “somewhere between 40 and 65 or 70 seats” — enough to gain control of the House. John Boehner will be speaker in January.
~~Republicans may even be able to take over the Senate if they can beat Barbara Boxer in California
~~My thoughts on the May 18th primary results
