Arlen Specter Makes His Traitor Status Official!!

Arlen Specter knew he was going to lose the upcoming Republican primary for his senate seat. So, in a move to keep his political power at all costs he defected to the Democrats. He didn't have to go far, since he used to be the most liberal Republican senator we had.

The list of my grievances against Specter is long, so I am not sad to see him go. Yet, the timing ticks me off to be sure. As Michael Steele mentioned today, Specter is repaying people like Rick Santorum who took it on the chin for him, by essentially spitting in their face (I added the spitting part). One of the few things I was mad at Bush about was supporting Specter in the primary against Toomey in 2004. How does Specter repay him? Another spit/slap in the face.

This has me fired up enough that I want to personally fly to Pennsylvania to campaign for Toomey myself. I want to be sure that Specter does finally get kicked to the curb, once and for all.

My message to Specter, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." And my favorite post title on this is by Conservatives 4 Palin entitled, RINO Turns Jackass: Specter Officially A Democrat. I think that about sums it up!!

Free Roxana Saberi

This is a Human Rights issue that Republicans and Democrats should be able to join together on. Roxana Saberi is an American Journalist that is imprisoned in Iran. She was sentenced to 8 years in prison on bogus charges in a trial that took place behind closed doors. She turned 32 yesterday while sitting in the Iranian prison.

The KC Star had an article about her on page 21 of yesterday's paper. She has gone on a hunger strike to protest her imprisonment. Saberi's case has caused even more tension between Obama and Ahmadinejad. He and Obama could get along if it just weren't for the racism, denial of the holocaust and the imprisoning of American journalists.

Saberi's parents are concerned about how weak she is getting from the hunger strike.

What You Can Do:

1) Join the Blog Rally--
A group of bloggers is holding a blog rally in support of Roxana Saberi (who is spending her birthday on a hunger strike in Tehran's Evin Prison) and of others who have dared to express their thoughts freely only to be imprisoned, abused, or killed.

Please consider placing a blue ribbon this week on your blog, website, and facebook / myspace / twitter page, and invite others to do the same, in honor of the journalists, bloggers, students, and writers who are imprisoned in Evin Prison (nicknamed "Evin University") and other prisons around the world for speaking and writing down their thoughts.

2) Officials in Iran need to know your concern for Roxana Saberi and your desire to return her home, and while she is in Iran to have a fair appeals process.

Write to:
His Excellency Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee,
Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran
622 Third Ave.
New York, NY 1007
e-mail: iran@un.int

This is Why I Love the Cheneys...

Hat tip: Redstate and Conservative Warrior

This is why I love the Cheneys... Liz Cheney is giving Norah O'Donnell an education in the truth on the "torture" issue.

I loved what Moe Lane had to say over at Red State so much that I'm just going to quote him:
This is how you do it, by the way. You don’t let them define the agenda; you certainly don’t let them define the terms; you concede nothing (you can always agree, but you do not concede); you keep going back to a disputed point over and over again until they get tired of trying to sneak one past you; you never lose your cool; when you catch them trying a stupid tactic like read a headline and pretend that it’s established truth, you call them on it without a hint of self-consciousness; and in this case, you don’t accept the other side’s presumptuous bluff that they speak for the American people. Because they don’t.

And you don’t give a tinker’s dam if they like you afterward. To quote Truman: if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.

Friday Smorgasbord!

1) Obama gets an F in an MSNBC poll and Biden is less popular than Cheney!

2) Meghan McCain insults Republicans on "The View"--I didn't think it was possible to dislike her more than her Dad, but I think I do. She is allowing the Drive By Media to use her just like Levi Johnston is.

3) Torture Memos--Grey Ghost makes a good point. If all of the torture memos end up being declassified, Obama's initial decision to declassify some of them may backfire.

4) Prominent Republican Calls For Investigation of Damage Done to National Security By Obama's Decision to Release CIA Memos An excerpt from the beginning of Gateway Pundit's post:
Worst. President. Ever.
It took Barack Obama less than 100 days to destroy this nation's economy and now its national security.
How's that for change?
Last week the novice in the White House released details of the enhanced interrogation techniques during the Bush years despite advice from current CIA director, Leon Panetta, and four prior CIA directors.

Miss California Carrie Prejean has a moral backbone!

Hat tip: Gateway Pundit

I always find it amazing that while many liberals preach tolerance, they rarely practice it. Miss California gave an honest answer according to her principles without being cruel or offensive and she is rewarded by being called a b*tch and the c word.

I didn't know much about Perez Hilton until today, and I have to say I'm not impressed. He's made scores of enemies with his unethical practices. His website was named "Hollywood's Most-Hated Website", other homosexuals are not happy with him and he's had numerous issues with lawsuits. Why he was chosen by the Miss USA pageant to even be a judge is beyond me.

Yet, even though Miss California has worked hard, she was willing to give up being Miss USA to stand by what she thought was right. She also showed great class by saying that she's praying for Perez after all the horrible things that he has said about her. Kudos to Carrie Prejean for having a moral backbone, which is rarely seen in today's culture!

Obama's Policies of Appeasement!

Obama seems to be more interested in pleasing the kook left wing of his base and appeasing dictators than he does in keeping this country safe. Even though, he was advised against it, he released "terror interrogation memos" last week. In other words, Al Qaeda and every other Islamic extremist terrorist group now know what we will and won't do to them to extract information once they are captured. An excerpt from Yahoo's article below:
Hayden and Mukasey, who both served during Bush's second term, said the release "assures that terrorists are now aware of the absolute limit of what the US government could do to extract information from them, and can supplement their training accordingly and thus diminish the effectiveness of these techniques."

They also argued that the disclosure meant that Obama was making permanent the suspension of the interrogation techniques.

"By allowing this disclosure, President Obama has tied not only his own hands but also the hands of any future administration faced with the prospect of attack," Hayden and Mukasey wrote.

The former officials defended the use of the techniques, noting that some detainees, including top Al-Qaeda detainee Abu Zubaydah, had voluntarily disclosed information after being submitted to CIA interrogations.
Dick Cheney is now rightly speaking out and saying that if these memos are going to be released, we need to show what interrogation methods worked and got results.

Cheney's point being that while Obama is condemning and ending certain interrogation methods, it needs to be said that these methods produced a lot of information that SAVED LIVES!! Thats the whole problem with appeasement minded liberals. They don't believe in torturing/hurting terrorists who wouldn't hesitate to behead your 90 year old grandmother, even when it could save countless, innocent lives.

I'm with Wordsmith--
After curtsying to the Saudi King and all but fist-bumping with Chavez, I don't ever again want to hear about Bush shaking hands with Saudi royalty (as if preceding American presidents have not done so) and Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam...

Tea Party Movement!

E. Thomas McClanahan wrote an excellent column for the KC Star on the Tax Day Tea Parties. He attended the Tea Party at Liberty Memorial and he had some things to say about the movement in general.

Here are some excerpts:
Bloggers at Playboy, noting how quickly the movement grew, figured it must be backed by some secret group. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the whole thing was “AstroTurf” — not a genuine grassroots effort. Liberal actress Janeane Garofalo suggested tea-party attendees were racists with substandard brains.

-----------------------------------------------
What we’re seeing is a center-right populist outpouring prompted by the long-term implications of President Barack Obama’s gargantuan budget, his spending plans, the massive tide of red ink those plans will generate — and, most important, what all that implies about the future balance between the government and the private sector.

I attended the tea party Wednesday at Kansas City’s Liberty Memorial, and I couldn’t find anyone who thought the event was about partisan politics. “Both parties are corrupt,” said Brian Stednick of North Kansas City.

Those with whom I spoke were mostly concerned about the rising national debt, ballooning federal spending — and the threat of higher taxes. Some mentioned the risk of future hyperinflation, given the huge sums of money flowing out of the government and Federal Reserve.

-------------------------------------------------
Those who criticized President Bush and the GOP Congress for fiscal irresponsibility were correct; when the Republicans were in power, they spent with little restraint. But as the graph shows, the deficit under Bush was shrinking until the housing bubble popped and the economy tanked.

By comparison, the coming Obama deficits are in a league of their own. On average, Obama’s plan would generate trillion-dollar deficits for the next 10 years, with chilling implications for future tax rates and the government’s financial health.

-------------------------------------------------------
“There are too many issues embedded in this single protest,” said political scientist George Connor of Missouri State University. “I don’t see these numbers generating a national wave. I just don’t see it.”

Maybe, maybe not. Obama’s budget and his radical agenda have triggered an angry, nationwide protest. The next several months will provide hints as to whether the leaderless Republicans, still casting about for fresh ideas, can translate some of that anger into real support for candidates.

Tori Spelling on Hannity!

I have to confess that I used to watch Beverly Hills 90210. I also happened to read Tori Spelling's book, Stori Telling last year and really enjoyed it. It gave me a lot of respect for her as a person.

I really enjoyed this interview and was impressed with Sean for having her on and with Tori for being willing to be on.

The Kansas City Tax Day Tea Party Rocked!

Photo Credit: Allison Long (KC Star)

The Kansas City Tax Day Tea Party on the Missouri side took place at the Liberty Memorial. The crowd was estimated to be around 4-5,000 people. The weather could not have been more perfect. Andrea Plunkett did a phenomenal job of organizing the event.

KC's Conservative Talk Show Host Chris Stigall was the keynote speaker and he was excellent. The rest of us got around 5 minutes to speak. A friend taped my speech and I have it posted above.

I was so impressed with the turnout that I thought surely the media couldn't ignore it. Oh, yes they could. The media was there but on all the local news casts that I watched the only mention of the Missouri protest was a flash picture of the crowd. Otherwise, they chose to focus on the one on the Kansas side which was much smaller. And I think it was NBC that went quickly to what a Democratic activist's response was and then concluded with some poll that supposedly said that most people support Obama's atrocious spending. Unbelievable!!

Kudos to the KC Star though for posting a bunch of pictures and a video of the event! Also, a huge thanks to my friend who took most of the pictures in this post. She took a ton of great pictures and really captured the spirit of the day.

If you attended a tea party and have a post, leave me a link in the comments section and/or email me. I'll be doing another post tomorrow and hope to put up a bunch of Tea Party links.

Obama's Bash America Tour!

While in Europe, Obama couldn't help himself, he had to bash America and felt the need to apologize for America. I talked about this on the radio show and what floored me is what Power Line points out in their post, Why does he bash us? Obama, in a little over 2 months, has already done as much America bashing as Carter and Clinton did in their ENTIRE PRESIDENCIES. Its hard to believe with Carter, except, I guess he's done most of his America bashing after his presidency.

Power Line comes up with 4 possible reasons for Obama's America bashing:
1) Its what Democrats do
2) Obama hopes to shift blame for any inability to obtain cooperation from foreign leaders to that familiar target, President Bush.
3) Maybe Obama just doesn't like the America that existed prior to January 20 of this year, and feels compelled to say so.
4) Obama's American bashing is the product of his ego.
My question is, what other leader in the world bashes their own country? The answer is no one. The leaders of other countries are proud of their countries and they have what one calls patriotism.

Yet, Republicans are never allowed to question Democrats' patriotism. So, how about this? When Democrats stop trashing America, I'll stop questioning their patriotism.

Kansas City Tax Day Tea Party!

Nationwide Tea Parties are going to be taking place on April 15th. What is the purpose of the Tea Parties and how did they start? Below is a description of the movement from the Tax Day Website:
The Tax Day Tea Party is a national collaborative grassroots effort organized by Smart Girl Politics, Top Conservatives on Twitter, the DontGo Movement and many other online groups/coalitions.

The Tea Party protests, in their current form, began in early 2009 when Rick Santelli, the On Air Editor for CNBC, set out on a rant to expose the bankrupt liberal agenda of the White House Administration and Congress. Specifically, the flawed “Stimulus Bill” and pork filled budget.

Angie Harmon Makes Me Proud to be a Conservative Woman and an American!

While the comments of Mandy Moore and Debra Messing were those of typical Hollywood Starlets, Angie Harmon took a different stand. Mandy Moore said Obama made her proud to be an American, well, Harmon makes me proud to be a Conservative Woman. Here is what Harmon told Tarts at Thursday’s Los Angeles launch of the new eyelash-growing formula, Latisse:
"Here's my problem with this, I'm just going to come out and say it. If I have anything to say against Obama it's not because I'm a racist, it's because I don't like what he's doing as President and anybody should be able to feel that way, but what I find now is that if you say anything against him you're called a racist."

"But it has nothing to do with it, I don’t care what color he is. I’m just not crazy about what he's doing and I heard all about this, and he’s gonna do that and change and change, so okay … I'm still dressing for a recession over here buddy and we've got unemployment at an all-time high and that was his number one thing and that's the thing I really don't appreciate. If I'm going to disagree with my President, that doesn't make me a racist. If I was to disagree with W, that doesn't make me racist. It has nothing to do with it, it is ridiculous."

Speaking of dislikes, the starlet has also had enough of the double-standards in the media.

"I do think McCain would have done a better job, only because I think he has more experience. I also think if W or John McCain or Reagan would have gone and done a talk show, the backlash would have been so huge and in his face, and ‘What is our president doing? How unclassy!’ But Obama does it and no one says anything," Harmon said.

I loved what she had to say about Sarah Palin--
And in spite of the scornful opinions most of her Tinseltown counterparts have shared on Gov. Sarah Palin, Harmon remains a true fan.

"I admire any kind of woman like her. My whole motto is to know what I stand for and know what I don't stand for and have the courage to live my life accordingly and she does exactly that. The fact that this woman has made the decisions she's made and literally lived her life according to that and takes heat for it is absolutely disgusting to me," she added. "People cannot look at this woman. I really think they're afraid of her and her morals, ethics and values and the fact that she hangs on them. Is she the most experienced person in the world? But she was running to be the Vice President, so we then put the most inexperienced person as the President. That didn't make any sense to me."
