Wednesday Smorgasbord

1) The Marines Vs. Haditha Smear Merchants--While Malkin ticks me off occasionally she writes an excellent blog and often nails issues in her columns. She does just that in her recent column on the latest with the Haditha Marines. It is unconscionable what has been done to these Marines by Murtha, Keith Olbermann, the NY Times and many others.

The Marines were declared guilty until proven innocent. Their names and reputations were drug through the mud along with the image of our Marines while all along there was no case against them. Eight of the Marines had charges pressed against them and seven of them have now been cleared or had case dismissals. As is often said where do they go to get their reputations back? I also would like to see Murtha personally apologize to these Marines and their families for his slanderous comments against them when he didn't know the facts. That will probably happen when hell freezes over but one can always hope ;-).

For a complete round-up on the latest in this case as always, check out Robin's blog.

2) Bush nominates first female 4-star general A historic moment!!

3) Why is John McCain going halfway in offending environmentalists? Krauthammer nails it on the head once again.

4) Why is Obama talking about the Bible when he is clueless? Normally, theology discussions don't belong in presidential campaigns but Obama opened the door and someone had to walk through it. Obama clearly is clueless about the Bible and yet gives a speech and references several passages. Why on earth did he do this? His advisers have to be banging their heads against the wall right now.

Dobson called him on to the carpet for taking scripture out of context and he's right. Shocker!! As usual Obama didn't know what he was talking about and should've left the theology discussions to the theologians. There was no reason to bring this subject up the way he did and as a result he stepped in it. Obama's response is that Dobson is making stuff up. Now, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. The problem with that is that anyone who knows the Bible will know Dobson isn't making stuff up and that it was Obama who was clueless. Yet, Obama is banking on the fact that, really, how many liberals actually read their Bibles ;-)???
