Okay, if I hear one more person compare Bush to Hitler I'm going to lose it!! This is one of those times I wish Blogger was more like Live Journal. LJ lets you put little icons at the top of your posts that illustrate what mood you're in while writing. Mine would be ticked off.
First, I go to Grey Ghost's blog and a liberal has left a comment disagreeing with GG and agreeing with Harry Belafonte that Bush is a terrorist like Hitler was a mass murderer. Aaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!
Second, I hear about the Aurora, Colorado teacher Jay Bennish who says they are similar. Here are some of his exact words:
"I'm not saying Bush and Hitler are exactly the same, obviously they're not. OK? But there are some eerie similarities to the tones that they use," says Bennish in his critique of U.S. economic and foreign policy."
Third, I learn that a high school government class is holding a mock trial on whether George W. Bush has committed war crimes before an "International Court".
Why am I to my boiling point with all of this??? #1--It is grossly unfair to attack an honorable, decent man who loves this country of being like one of the most evil men without a soul in the world's history. George W. Bush loves people and cares about what happens to them. It weighs heavy on his heart that men and women are dying for this country. But it also weighs heavy on his heart that he must protect American men, women and children from terrorists intent on destroying us.
#2--It trivializes the complete horror of Hitler and the Holocaust. It is terribly offensive and so disrespectful and dishonoring to the victims. If someone can compare Bush to Hitler then they have forgotten the atrocities of the Holocaust. 5-6 Million Jews were murdered and over 1 million other "undesirables" (according to Hitler) were killed and tortured in horrendous ways. Hitler decided that those who were inferior and deserved to be killed (even though innocent) were: the disabled, deformed, handicapped, mentally ill, homosexual, jews and anyone defending the jews. There were death camps, death marches, rapes and experiments of an incomprehensible nature. One such description:
"Mengele did a number of medical experiments of unspeakable horror at Auschwitz, using twins. These twins as young as five years of age were usually murdered after the experiment was over and their bodies dissected.
Mengele injected chemicals into the eyes of children in an attempt to change their eye color. Unfortunately a strict veil of secrecy over the experiments enabled Mengele to do his work more effectively.
A surviving Mengele twin, Moshe Offer, later recalled the death of his brother:
"Dr. Mengele had always been more interested in Tibi. I am not sure why - perhaps because he was the older twin. Mengele made several operations on Tibi. One surgery on his spine left my brother paralyzed. He could not walk anymore. Then they took out his sexual organs. After the fourth operation, I did not see Tibi anymore. I cannot tell you how I felt. It is impossible to put into words how I felt. They had taken away my father, my mother, my two older brothers - and now, my twin ..."
The list of Holocaust horrors is endless and unfortunately "1 death is a tragedy but 1 million is a statistic."
Grey Ghost gave an awesome response to the liberal:
"As much as I couldn’t stand Bill Clinton, I would never ridicule him or insult the millions who died in the Holocaust by comparing him to or calling him Hitler. Criticize bush all you want, speak up against his policies, engage in respectful debate with conservatives or Republicans who for the most part support Bush, but the need to speak through anger and hatred of the man by continuing to use vitriol and insult the President just shows your ignorance.
You see if you really believed that Bush was Hitler you would pack up your stuff and just leave this country. Butinstead you’ve allowed the Left to brainwash you with their trivialization of the Holocaust and make comparing Bush to Hitler into such a fad.
The Nazis killed millions of men, women and children. Their victims weren't "collateral damage" in a war and they weren’t executed for nothing besides their race. The Nazis sent their victims to gas chambers and ovens in boxcars. Nazi scientists injected dyes into the living eyes of small children to see if they could be made "Aryan." They made soap out of people.
What on earth has George Bush done that deserves such comparisons? What could he possibly do?
If you're going to call the man a Nazi, show me the children with tattoos on their arms. Show me the stockpiles of emaciated corpses. Show me files cabinets full of memos detailing how Bush and Cheney plan on disposing millions of dead American citizens by use of poisonous gas.
If you can't show me any of these things, and you can't, then stop calling the man a “Nazi”. Because when you say he's no different from Hitler, you are also saying that Hitler is no different from George Bush. And that means that Hitler's crimes were no worse than George Bush's "crimes." And whatever you think of what George Bush has done or might do, if you think any of it is the moral equivalent of the Holocaust, you are in effect saying the Holocaust really wasn't that bad.
Secondly, Bush has gotten tons of criticism of those of you on the Left, the mainstream press and even those on the Right. Do you forget that Bush took office under constant derision of being a man who "stole the election"? Do you forget all the criticism Bush got for 9/11? for going into Iraq? for choosing Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court? for his social security agenda? for his push for a gay marriage amendment? for Hurricane Katrina? for "Plamefate"? for the No-Child Left Behind Act? for his parties huge spending? etc. and all of these matters Bush has spoken to head on. How has the administration shielded him? Again, you have no proof.
Lastly, one of the things Coretta Scott King was known for was her dignity and grace. Even while sitting down with Presidents she disagreed with or even when speaking upon Presidents she didnt like, she never once used a public forum to insult, putdown or belittle them. You could learn a lot from her."
There are simply no words to describe how offensive this is and it needs to stop!!
