Please note I have changed my header a little bit to include my philosophy on how to deal with trolls. I am not against healthy debate. But with that said I'm also not going to waste my time arguing with liberals who enjoy personal attacks. As many of you know I recently had problems with a troll who goes by the title PB. He doesn't have his own blog but seems to like to go to conservative blogs and stir up trouble. He made a comment about Donald Rumsfeld that was the usual liberal mantra and was out of context. To be honest I don't have the time or energy to debate liberals on every single topic and that was not the purpose or design of this blog. He then resorted to personal attacks because he was upset that I had deleted his comments. That only confirmed to me I had made the right decision initially to delete his comments.
I've noticed that every blogger seems to have a different philosophy on how to deal with liberals. Mahndisa considers herself to be an independent and enjoys most people's comments and welcomes almost any and all debate. My hats off to her for being so open-minded. Exile seems to relish debating liberals and even has a trophy troll room. On the other hand Phantom makes it very clear that he doesn't even want liberals on his site at all. Ranting Republican says her blog is a place to vent her conservative views and if you are a liberal, find another blog. I am probably somewhere in between these two camps. If you are a respectful liberal and the topic you want to debate interests me then I might engage. Otherwise I don't enjoy wasting my time debating something I know will not change either of our minds. I also detest personal attacks and do not want to engage in them. I remembered a verse my dad showed me in highschool when I kept arguing with a guy at school who just enjoyed arguing with people just to upset them. Proverbs 26:4--Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself. I have no wish to do this.
The resident liberal who comes to my blog is James who also frequents Mahndisa's & Rebecca's blogs also. We have had spirited debates but still remain respectful towards each other without descending into personal attacks. We don't agree on very much politically but have other interests in common. And speaking of this he has posted a hilarious column today on how to deal with trolls. I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. But I will warn you that there is profanity involved so go there at your own risk :-).
That is my philosophy in a nutshell. If you are a liberal you will probably not enjoy much about my blog and I ask you to refrain from personal attacks. If you think you have a valid point to be debated you are welcome to try but I will not guarantee that I will debate you and if you are out of line your comments will be deleted. As Rush says, he is a benevolent dictator of his radio show and he gets to determine what gets said and who says it. This is my blog and I get to determine the message that I want sent. As conservatives we have to deal with the liberal drivel everywhere in the MSM. Conservatives flourish on talk radio and the internet where there is true competition. If you are a liberal you are free to start your own blog and rehash all the MSM drivel but don't get mad if you're not allowed to post it here.
