Human Trafficking Update

I did a post on Human Trafficking on December 8th. I have some good news and bad news for my update.

"Sweeping legislation to combat human trafficking unanimously passed the House last week and will soon be heading to the Senate."

To read the rest of the article go here.

Unfortunately one of our favorite senators is trying to hold it up in the senate. The following is an update I received from Focus on the Family:

"Urge Sen. Biden to Stop Blocking the Trafficking Bill

Last week, the House of Representatives passed the
Trafficking Victims’ Protection Reauthorization Act, H.R.
972, by an overwhelming vote of 426-0. The bill authorizes
funds for a variety of programs for victims of human
trafficking and provides for enhanced U.S. efforts to
combat trafficking. The legislation is now awaiting a
Senate vote before the President can sign it into law.
Unfortunately, for the second time in less than a week,
Democrats are holding a noncontroversial bill hostage.
Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., is preventing a vote on the
trafficking bill by attempting to amend it with
pro-abortion language.

Human trafficking is now the second-largest and
second-fastest-growing criminal enterprise in the world.
Every year, 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked
across international borders and held against their will,
primarily for sexual purposes. Half of these victims are
children. The Trafficking Victims’ Protection
Reauthorization Act will make great strides in protecting
women and children from trafficking, as well as helping
those who have fallen victim to trafficking.

TAKE ACTION: Biden needs to hear from you immediately. If
he continues to block a vote for the duration of this
week, the Trafficking Victims' Protection Act will not
reach the President's desk for signature until next year.
Please call Biden’s Delaware and Washington, D.C., offices
as soon as possible and respectfully urge him to stop
blocking a vote on the Trafficking Victims’ Protection Act
and to discontinue his efforts to amend it with
pro-abortion language. For this effort, phone calls are
preferred over e-mails."

Wilmington: 302-573-6345
Milford: 302-424-8090
Washington DC: 202-224-5042

I would encourage all of us to give Senator Biden a call :-).

I cannot tell you here what I really think of Senator Biden because that sort of language shouldn't be put into print!

You asked on Hoody's Blog what "ROTFALMAO" means. It means "rolled on the floor and laughed my ass off!" I also answered you on Hoody's blog.

Merry Christmas. :)

O.K. don't get me started on this. Here we go again. The dems... so caring, and loving and concerned for others.. BUT NO!!! You have to be able to kill babies in order to protect children from being sold into slavery to be given to slimy sexual preditors who are SICK AND NEED TO BE PUT ON AN ISLAND WITH THEIR PRIVATES CUT OFF!

Sorry, but these libs annoy me, and disgust me. Plain and simple. There is no other way to put it.

Oh yes, and the children that are permitted to live outside of the womb??? Oh, don't spank them, let them have everything they want. Let them go have abortions without their parents knowledge, then when they go and murder someone.. Oh no, don't give them the death penalty. Teach them 'self esteem' in school, and let them badmouth their teachers, yet they can't say or even utter the word 'God'.
Give them pink tee-shirts in order to support the gays in the school on gay pride days, but they aren't allowed to even say.."If you want to know more about different theories of how the world began, read this book."
sick...

Oh yeh,
we have a subscription to 24/7 on Rush's site, so I watch him via the web. It is awesome! I highly recommend it! My husband watches him at night if he missed him during the day.

The question I have, though, is will this legislation actually be effective, or just another law on the books?

Biden wont care. His seat in the senate is his birthright.

Gayle: Thanks. I figured out the LMAO part but didn't know what the beginning was :-).

Rebecca: Jealous about the 24/7 subscription :-).

Eddie: Robosquirrel brought up the same points. But I figure it doesn't take much time to make phonecalls and if the people working on this think its important its worth doing. And it brings attention to this important issue.

BWH: Biden may not care but he's getting a phonecall from me anyway.

I am not sure what we can do about human trafficking in other countries where the problem is far worse. The best we can do is seriously prosecute it when it happens here in America and urge other countries to do the same. To trust this to the UN is to hire Jesse James the guard the bank. We can also boycott nations that still practice slavery; there are a handful of them and even more who tolerate it. Let's concentrate on what we can do rather than worry about a "feel good -- no results" law.

Shoprat: Some good points. But I guess I'm not willing to concede that this would be a no results law just yet. I think all the things you suggest are important but there is no reason not to pass the law also.

That's just wrong what Biden is doing. He could get his precious abortion bill in anywhere, but he's trying to sneak it in a much-needed bill. Disgusting.
